The Arrival of a Long Expected King

So this season can leave you feeling every bit of lonely and left out.

With the busyness of the holidays, we run from one thing to the next never really feeling like we connect. Even with a calendar full of holiday parties, it's easy to sit in the back of the room and watch as everyone talks, laughs, and enjoys the holidays. Then you go home, take a deep breath, and gather yourself to do it all again.

Just me?

Didn't think so...

In the crazy busy of the season and the crazy broken of our lives, we tend to miss the beauty that the holiday brings...community and the arrival of a King.

Because the most notable thing about Christmas isn't exchanging gifts, spending money, having the biggest or best holiday party, or running from one thing to the next. The most remarkable part is time spent with family laughing, resting, and making memories. It's the expectancy of what is to come. It's the arrival of a long awaited baby.

So, I challenge you this holiday season to make some time in your calendar to gather your family around the table. Drink a big cup of coffee. Gather in the kitchen to make those homemade-family recipe cookies. Belly laugh. Make messes.

Because this season was made for laughter and rest. This season was made for a baby. As we revel in the arrival of that long awaited King, let us enjoy the quiet beauty that this season can bring with it, if only we take the time to find it.
